Ok so, when a penguin comes ashore, just what does it want on land? Seems some of the same things we do!!!! Below is a series of pics we took for you, for fun. This is a town up the coast from us, yup, you guessed it, called Penguin and well, here are what penguins are looking for on land

Even penguins need a drugstore

Hope you get more MT, you surely need it. Its been raining here all day so far, that good steady soaking rain, not really heavy, blowing across in curtains, the temp has stated to drop in the last half hour though its currently 51 (10c) and supposed to read 61 (16c) but I dont think thats going to happen, might have to light the fire if the temp keeps dropping or find something to cook slow in the oven to take the chill off the air LOL

Here it is! The all new Birthday Block Swap for 2009! I am going to be opening this swap up on Dec. 1 and closing it Dec 31. So far, I want opinions. Do you want to swap as this past year, with the recipient choosing a color scheme and block size and the givers to choose a block OR do you want the recipient to choose a theme (like Star Blocks, Basket Blocks, animals, SBS, crazy quilt or something like that) and the block size and the givers choosing their favorite colors to do the blocks ...

Ok, hands up, you know you want to host a swap! Now is your chance!

We need someone to host a mini quilt swap, like Betweens did only this one christmas themed. Easy to do, no posting out of blocks or anything, just collecting names, organising who swaps with who (most people use a random # generator online for that) and letting everyone know who their recipient is etc.

Can someone help out please? T'would be much appreciated

I'm appalled at the naivete of the military who dealt with this monster. Our society doesn't do a very good job of removing dangerous people. Mental health facilities used to at least assess the mindset of people who misbehaved enough to end up in court. Now those dollars get eaten up by people like the courthouse shooter here in Atlanta.

My adolescence convinced me that violence lurks everywhere. I have to add that experience taught me that most people are decent.

She and her friend Vicki ('Tozz' of On My Heart BOM and Hats-A-Plenty fame) have provided stitchery patterns and construction patterns for a mug jacket (hug) and a mug mat. What a sweet little gift to give someone, don't you think?

I stopped and he started talking to me....picked him up and the 'Purrrrr' was on. Noticed he had a horrid respiratory infection...as he was sneezing huge thick green buggers, yuck..... so, I decided to take him home and get him well. He had a really bad infestation of ear mites too. By the way, do you know that ear mites CAN leave the cat ...

I have been thinking, what about if we did just one final swap, could be anything you want. Holiday theme if you like, anything at all - your choice. With all the holidays coming up might be easier for people. Have them say due by early - mid december? What do you think?

Esther Aliu has started a new BOM on her blog called Red Delicious. 11 blocks - all red scraps appliqued on white background. She calls it a mystery but has listed the title of all 11 blocks & they sound darling. The first one is 2 appliqued red birds. 1st block is up until Dec 15 then comes down when #2 goes up, etc. She's using a website called SCRIBD to download them - manuevering in it was a bit strange for me. Take a look:

Hello Ladies,

Finally got all the cross-stitching done for the baby quilt I have been working on for the past 1 1/2 years. (I haven't felt much like I am a quilter.) I am now starting the actual quilting part. I am quilting blocks around the designs to look like baby's blocks. The squares are 8" x 9" and there are 16 squares (as one can see in the avatar) and now I'm anxious to get it done. The quilting is going faster than the cross-stitching. LOL I am hand-quilting. ...

I'm getting rather annoyed at the site where I was posting this, so I'm just going to do it here now.

QBee got me started on this BOM. I've just been adding a few borders to each block to make a small monthly wall hanging. My blocks have all been either Buckeyes or Jerseys, with Uncle Woody thrown in for March. I finished my June Buckeye one up today.

Buckeye always likes to play, especially ball, so this one is totally her.
