Ok, hands up, you know you want to host a swap! Now is your chance!

We need someone to host a mini quilt swap, like Betweens did only this one christmas themed. Easy to do, no posting out of blocks or anything, just collecting names, organising who swaps with who (most people use a random # generator online for that) and letting everyone know who their recipient is etc.

Can someone help out please? T'would be much appreciated

Here it is! The all new Birthday Block Swap for 2009! I am going to be opening this swap up on Dec. 1 and closing it Dec 31. So far, I want opinions. Do you want to swap as this past year, with the recipient choosing a color scheme and block size and the givers to choose a block OR do you want the recipient to choose a theme (like Star Blocks, Basket Blocks, animals, SBS, crazy quilt or something like that) and the block size and the givers choosing their favorite colors to do the ...

My stitchery friend and bad influence Jenny (of Shabby Roses BOM and Wonky Houses BOM fame) is co-hosting the 2009 Hug Swap. She and her friend Vicki ('Tozz' of On My Heart BOM and Hats-A-Plenty fame) have provided stitchery patterns and construction patterns for a mug jacket (hug) and a mug mat. What a sweet little gift to give someone, don't you think?

I don't get to play in this swap because of the timing, but I'm hoping to use the mug-hug and mug-rug idea for small holiday gifts ...

This is how it would run.. similiar to one I just did on Quilters Bloggers.

You will be assigned a member to make a mini quilt for we are all getting to know each other very well so at least you will know what to make for the person.

You will mail it to the person you are assigned to make the mini for.. do not tell anyone who you are making the mini for but you can post your progress ...

Okay, so here's what I'm thinking for guidelines:

Deadline to sign up is Monday, August 31.

1. WAIT until you've gotten your swap-ee's name before you start, then check out the Swappers Likes and Dislikes topic to learn more about her.

2. Each swapper makes one Mug-Hug and one Mug-Rug, using the basic pattern ...

The pattern is free. It is at www.freepatterns.com then click on quilting>speical occasions> patriotic. The pattern is the rotating star

It is a walhanging, but can be used as a table topper with a center piece.

I and others would love to *see* the results of that swap! Carolyn
