The hexes are cut in half and assembled in rows, so there's no Y seams. Easy peasy. The piecing went smoothly and I really enjoyed it. I can see possibilities for all sorts of settings, but I just went with random fabric placement this time. I had a heck of a time with the machine quilting due to a machine that over heats, has a 7" throat space, I used fusible batting which gummed up the needle, and thread that was shredding ... It's was fun to do but I wouldn't call it scrappy - it took large chunks of my stash. Did it all in batiks. Still looking for a back that won't cost me an arm & a leg. I made it for our local public radio station to auction at their fund raiser this summer.
