I'm appalled at the naivete of the military who dealt with this monster. Our society doesn't do a very good job of removing dangerous people. Mental health facilities used to at least assess the mindset of people who misbehaved enough to end up in court. Now those dollars get eaten up by people like the courthouse shooter here in Atlanta.
My adolescence convinced me that violence lurks everywhere. I have to add that experience taught me that most people are decent. big sigh

So many 'not good' things going on. Nothing that drastic in our area, but enough to make one worry. I don't know what the answer is.

Prayers for all involved.....how scary for them! Just heard the perp is paralyzed....hopefully they can figure out what made him snap so they can catch it in the future.... cry2 The policewoman who stopped him is truly a hero.

For us in North Dakota that would be the 3rd..... we had 3 College girls drown in a crazy accident.... they went star gazing and drove into a field that had a water hole... they all drowned in 10 feet of water... hard to understand....

For the life of me I can't figure out what made that man fire upon his fellow mates and kill 13 of them. One of them being a woman 1-1/2 months pregant and had just gotten back from Iraq!

And the man in Florida had been let go about 2 yrs ago from this job and came back to seek revenge. Such a shame. They did catch me and I bet he spends the rest of his life in prison. Or at least he should.

Thats my 2 cents worth.

I have the tele on the memorial service for Fort Hood. I can't help the tears, I so appreciate the sacrifice our armed service families make. They make our way of lfe possible.

I couldn't watch the whole service. When the line of boots, helmets and rifles were shown while that little gal was singing, I just burst into tears. I had to turn it off.

Like Redmadder, I think there was a lot of unheeded signs that this guy was headed for the edge. It was a sad sad day.

For those of you who don't know, I live next door to Ft Hood. We have lots of family and friends who work on Ft Hood. It was a long day in Central Texas. And it saddens me that it will never be over for the families of the victims. So so sad.
